collection: MAALOUF

MAALOUF, a Copenhagen-based Danish brand that creates non-seasonal premium underwear and home apparel for all genders, was founded with a clear mission: to drive positive change in the fashion industry by rethinking every step of the production process. MAALOUF (read mah-loof) is the last name of its creative director, Mathilde Maalouf, proudly passed down from her father's Lebanese heritage. Mathilde and her co-founders are driven by a shared passion for creating a more responsible and sustainable future, and are committed to quality and change. Read the MAALOUF journal here.

The fabrics MAALOUF uses are produced on machines that are partly museum-worthy. The original circular knitting machines ("round stools") date back to 1900-1960. These machines are powered by a single electric motor that spins around a long shaft. Leather straps transfer the energy to the machines, reducing energy costs to a minimum with maximum efficiency. It's a slower process compared to modern knitting machines, but the difference in quality is truly noticeable. When the weather allows, the fabrics are hung outside to dry.
