Adina and Conrad are the ceramic artists behind Of the Earth, based in Canada. Their work is a co-creation with the earth, and is inspired by the natural textures, hues and formations that exist all around us. Their passion for the ancient world and for the history of ceramics inspires them to create pieces that not only reflect the earth, but mankind’s ritualistic relationship with clay for thousands of years. Dina and Conrad's dream was not only to sell ceramics, but to refine a lifestyle that had slowness at the forefront, and fulfillment at its core. Their education and experience seemed dormant, until they found the tangibility of ceramics.

This 7 inch hand-built vessel no.1 was made using a hand blended mixture of clays and gathered earth materials. This piece has been left raw and unglazed highlighting the beauty of the materials. The subtle imperfections give this piece a presence. You may feel tempted to fill her with fresh flowers and we would not blame you. Yes, you may! This piece of stoneware has a porosity of 3%, much lower than terracotta pieces (10-12% porosity). Over time it will very slowly absorb water, but she will make for a beautiful vase, so go comfortably ahead and add your favorite flowers.
