The journey of Materia Botánica began as a research project focused on experimenting with the local plants, agricultural plant waste, and conventionally undervalued materials to extract pigments for dyeing clothing and artisanal textiles. When Almudena reached out to us, it was a true eureka moment — the thrill of connecting with such a niche, like-minded creator was palpable. For this small shop of ours, it is living the dream in its most sincere form — working with our hands from scratch, learning from nature, and sharing the quiet joy of creating respectfully.
These fine wool socks are crafted for everyday use from 95% fine merino wool and 5% polyamide. Lightweight, comfortable, and timeless, these socks are designed for the in-between seasons, perfect for spring and summer thanks to their breathability and ability to regulate temperature. Knitted in Spain from super fine merino wool, they offer a soft, itch-free knit that insulates without adding bulk. They are finished with non-binding cuffs for everyday comfort. Each pair is dyed by hand, using colors extracted from plants and vegetable waste sourced from agriculture.
Due to the nature of botanical dying, there may be variation in color tone or intensity from one dye bath to another (no two dye baths can be the same).
