Veronica Skotnes started her journey at sea as a 17-year old, and since then, wind and ocean currents have taken her steadily north of the Arctic Circle. She bought her sailboat, Ansø 42 --one made of steel in the 80s-- in 2020 and, for the past few years, she has been sailing and living aboard it along the coast of Finnmark. Veronica has a bachelor's degree in Arctic Outdoor Activities from UiT. She is involved in initiatives for cleaning the ocean under the In The Same Boat NGO. 

Det jeg leste i bølgene tells about the journey through the outside and the inside, through midnight sun, sea gaze and storm, from the deck of an old sailboat. It illuminates a beautiful and waning part of coastal culture together with Veronica's own reflections and experiences from the sea. The sketches in the book are the author's own drawings in the journal she keeps.
