Marisa Molin is an Australian contemporary jeweler based in Stavanger, Norway. Her practice centers on the appropriation and translation of fragments gathered from walks in nature, primarily along island shorelines. In her studio, these collected elements unveil hidden narratives, each texture reimagined into a wearable object. In this way, Marisa crafts a visual conversation with the landscapes she explores, offering the wearer a keepsake rich with memory and a sense of place.
This bracelet/cuff is heavy, raw, made of solid sterling silver. The feeling of it is like no other to me. It was wow from the moment I touched it. Marisa says about her work on this collection: "Through a form of mapping, I create a collective conversation of an island, rather than a single textural focus which has no belonging. I have continued my investigation of what can be found and interpreted as fragments along the coastlines of Tasmania, with King Island and Flinders Island being the focus of this collection. This sculptural series has developed from textures of The Paper Nautilus shell, lace coral and driftwood."
