Loré is a visual artist living with her husband and three daughters in the northern woods of Vermont, USA, tucked between a mountain and a river in what they fondly call Cold Hollow. For her illustrations, she draws inspiration from the magic of childhood, the natural world, and the wonder of everyday parenting: "It always amazes me how a bit of yarn, a stick, and an open place to move is all you need to activate the magic of imagination." Currently, she is working on her own book of children’s illustrations.
The Held print is a 25x20cm reproduction of the original gouache painting, printed with archival inks on cold-pressed watercolor paper to create a museum-quality print, resistant to fading and yellowing. Winter is unfolding outside, snowflakes dancing in the window. It is an early morning or a late night... what parent can really tell? There is hot tea on the table and a fire in the hearth. This mother is cradling her baby and surely hopes to sneak in five more minutes of peaceful sleep. Just listen to the snowflakes tapping on the glass and the fire crackling.
