Alexandra and Florin, the couple behind POEMI, are passionate self-taught ceramic artists who began their clay journey in 2016 in Sibiu, Romania. With no prior experience, they dedicated themselves to mastering the art of pottery. They started with a small kiln that they keep to this day as a reminder of their humble beginnings, and since have designed custom tableware for restaurants around the world while promoting sustainable and durable ceramics for daily use. Inspired by childhood memories and the beauty of everyday life, their POEMI collections tell unique stories of connection around shared meals: "The plaster on the walls of the house, the passing of seasons which puts its mark on all and everything, the table with the three-legged chairs we used to eat at, the wooden tray where the bread was kneaded."

This handcrafted bowl is made of beige speckled stoneware and is glazed with an ecological matte glaze in sage green with brown effects. It is the perfect size and shape for sourdough mixing, with a wide enough brim to allow stretches and folds both of the gentle and the vigorous kind. Combine with our vintage linen or hemp towels from France and you've got yourself a perfect combo for your weekly loaves. It is by far the most comfortable bowl I have used for preparing my sourdough, but it can easily be used for serving food, keeping fruits, sensory play with supervision. The bowl is also dishwasher safe.
