Cynthia Main left her job running a salvage building materials wood shop at the ReBuilding Exchange in Chicago Illinois
in 2013 to spend a year at Tillers International: a traditional rural skills school near Kalamazoo, Michigan. There, she was able to dive into more traditional woodworking and blacksmithing. Together with Doug Stubbs, she created Sunhouse Craft. Broom-making may have claimed her, she says, and allowing that to happen feels to her like a reclamation of sorts.
This is a simple small brush that Cynthia designed, based off the start of a hawks tail broom--classic meets modern in a sturdy utilitarian sweep. She made it with natural dyed organic cotton cord and a checkered handwoven organic linen band, and using a non electric process in the Sunhouse Craft studio/storefront. The simple small brush measures approximately 28 x 14 x 5 cm.
NOTE: the ones we carry do not have a rounded end on the narrow side. They are flat.
