Cynthia Main left her job running a salvage building materials wood shop at the ReBuilding Exchange in Chicago Illinois in 2013 to spend a year at Tillers International: a traditional rural skills school near Kalamazoo, Michigan. There, she was able to dive into more traditional woodworking and blacksmithing. Together with Doug Stubbs, she created Sunhouse Craft. Broom-making may have claimed her, she says, and allowing that to happen feels to her like a reclamation of sorts.
This gibbous broom is inspired by the curve of the crescent moon (and named for a beloved feline!) and made of broomcorn. It is a black cotton wrapped broom, naturally dyed to achieve a dark stable finish at the ends. Raw leather handle comes out of the center. Expect some variations in color. It measures approximately 35.6 x 7.6 x 3.8 cm.
