Iris Chen is deconstructing tiger parenting. She is founder of the Untigering movement, advocates for peaceful parenting and educational freedom for children. Her mission is to inspire generational and cultural transformation, especially among Asian communities. Iris Chen spent 16 years living in China (land of the tiger parent) and currently resides in her native California with her husband and two sons. As a child from a former communist country, although rather of a different culture, I could relate to a lot of Iris Chen's experiences in China. Listening to her interview on NPR in June 2023, was really refreshing and inspiring and I had a lot of "aha" moments. This piece is wholeheartedly recommended to parents and non-parents alike to learn about themselves and learn to relate to other cultures, too.
