Iris Hantverk was born in the 1900s in Stockholm as a small brush manufacturer. Now they are 17 employees and the owners, Sara and Richard, are continuing the tradition. Their core remains the brush binding manufacturing at Sandsborgsvägen, Enskede – where 6 visually impaired crafts-folk from different cultures make brushes according to an old Swedish tradition. They also work with visually impaired craftsmen in Estonia.

The veggie brush is handmade of oil-treated birch wood and union fiber mix (tampico fibres). The union fiber mixture is strong and water resistant. Tampico are the long lasting fibers from a certain species of agave (agave lechuguilla). This is a superb brush for scrubbing potatoes and root vegetables. Hence its appropriate name as the veggie brush.
