These vintage grain sacks were historically used by farmers and millers to store, transport and identify the grains they collected and possibly traded. They are made of hemp (and possibly flax) and are incredibly durable. The initials on the sacks are likely indicative of the farm that used them. They've withstood the test of time, the rough handling, and the hard work. Many similar grain sacks have been used across Europe with perhaps the French ones as some of the most popular.
I love them as a seating adornment for a wooden bench, as wall decoration (inside or outside) or even filled with something soft, such as wool, to have as cushion. You decide how you would like to continue their faithful work and life.
Each sack is different, and so are their stripes :)
