vintage romanian hemp towel - loom woven

These vintage towels are woven on a loom, called "razboi", out of Romanian hemp (sometimes also mixed with flax and incredibly durable). Traditionally, they used to be collected as part of the bride's dowry or "zestre", along with other handmade items and offered by her family to the newlyweds in a beautifully hand-carved wooden chest.

We personally collected these in Romania, cleaned them, and are proudly bringing them for you to experience. Their texture is thick and rough and they may easily serve as table decoration/adornment as well as kitchen towels.

Each towel is slightly different, but measurements are in the vicinity of 80 x 40 cm for the blue-striped ones and 70 x 35 cm for the ones with red stripes.

care: can easily be washed in the washing machine on a regular cycle at 30 degrees. We like to use ecological/environmentally friendly detergent.
